Today it’s all about the Indie Line, an exclusive collection that is only available at select online and local independent retailers. The list of retailers can be found here – https://www.spellbinderspaperarts.com/exclusives/.

The products I’m using are the Layered Monarch Cutting Die, and the Thanks Expressions Stamp and Die Template Set.

I started by choosing the patterned paper I wanted to use. Butterflies and flowers go very well together, so I opted for a floral design with splashes of watercolor. I’m all for simplifying the creative process when possible, especially if I’m short on time, and patterned paper offers a variety of options to work with. I went with the same color scheme for both cards: black and teal, with pops of colors here and there.

The first card features the Layered Monarch Cutting Die.

I trimmed my card panel to measure 4”x5.25”, and the patterned paper 4”x4.25”. I then adhered this to the panel, leaving the white portion at the top; a strip of teal card stock was added at the seam to create more definition. I used the same colored card stock to cut out the detailed image of the butterfly, while for the solid part I went with a lighter shade and a more subtle pattern.

I popped the butterfly up with foam dots, and finished the card panel with a heat-embossed sentiment and enamel dots. I like the look of a mat between the panel and the card base, and here I decided to go with black to just bring it all together.

For the second card, I incorporated the Thanks Expressions Stamp and Die Set.

I divided the card in three sections, arranging the patterned paper at the top and the bottom, while leaving a bigger white space in the center. Here I used the strips of teal card stock at the seam as well, and added some twine in the lower portion of the panel. For the sentiment, I cut it out several times from black card stock, adhered all the layers together, and heat-embossed it with translucent embossing powder, which gave just the right amount of sparkle.

I chose a yellow patterned paper for the solid image of the butterfly, and added gold embroidery floss behind it before adhering it down. I love that the “Thanks” die comes in a set with coordinating sentiment stamps. I foam mounted the “A little note to say” one and placed it right on top of the butterfly.
