This stencil release features a variety of designs and styles, perfect for any project. The layout I’m sharing today was created using the Flowing Drops Stencil.

When I saw this beautiful stencil, I knew I had just the right photo to go with it. I started by blending the following Altenew Crisp Dye Inks over the stencil to create a diagonal design: Minty Mint, Sweet Leaf, Aqualicious, and Teal Cave. Those colors just give me the idea of water and summer.

Here I picked colored thread that matched the inks, and stitched almost all of the drops, except the outer ones, as I really like how they fade into the background.

For the photo, I layered a few patterned papers from the Our Family and Reflection Scrapbook Collections behind it and popped it up with foam adhesive. To add to the layering, I arranged die cuts from the Rose Filament Die Set around it, as well as a flower cluster sticker from the Our Family collection. I also fussy cut some roses from patterned paper and scattered them along the diagonal design to make the page more cohesive.

To finish the layout off, I embellished it with wood veneer buttons and additional stickers, enamel dots and paint splatters from the same inks I used for the stenciled images. Now onto the prizes! Crate Paper – Stitched Cards

Hello everyone. Today I’m sharing two hand-stitched cards with you that I created for Crate Paper. Stitching has always being a passion of mine, especially on paper. I love the extra detail it adds to scrapbook layouts, mini albums and, like in this case, cards.

The first card features a stitched background. I often try to find geometric patterns in a collection that are simple and easy to accent with some stitching. Here I used one of the patterned papers from the Flourish 6×6 paper pad. I went for a tone-on-tone look, as I wanted the stitching to be subtle but still noticeable. Once the background was ready, I layered a few more papers behind the front panel, making sure to coordinate them with the colors in the embellishments I was going to use.

The embroidered bird is so beautiful, I had to use it on this card! I popped it up with foam dots and arranged a few golden puffy sticker leaves behind it. The sentiment, which I fussy-cut to make the scalloped border more visible, comes from the sticker sheet.

To balance the bottom left corner of the card, I also added two mini tassels in the opposite corner. I just tied them together with some twine that I wrapped around the top fold.

For the second card, I went with a stitched sentiment. This was a little more time consuming than the first one, but totally worth it.

After die-cutting the words, I adhered them on the front panel and stitched around them. I opted for blue thread to give it more definition and separate it from the busy background.

I layered the heart with white cardstock to make it stand out more, and finished the card with two butterflies.

Now onto the projects I created for this release. I have a layout and a card to share with you.

For the layout, I used the Cross Stitch Flower stamp set and coordinating dies, and the Mandala die.

I started by stamping all the flowers that compose my wreath. I wanted it to be colorful, but also soft at the same time. Here are the Altenew Crisp Dye Inks I used:

  • Coral flowers: Pink Pearl, Coral Bliss, Heart Beat, Vineyard Berry.
  • Yellow flowers: Citrus Burst, Fresh Lemon, Maple Yellow, Honey Drizzle.
  • Purple flowers: Soft Lilac, Lavender Fields, Midnight Violet, Deep Iris.
  • Stems: Just Green, Hunter Green.

With the coordinating die I created the cross-stitch pattern, but decided to only cross-stitch the darker area of the flowers, closer to the stem. I then fussy-cut the images, which I arranged in a circular shape to form the wreath.

Once all the flowers were in place, I decided to fill the center with the Mandala die design. To give it some color, I backed it with cardstock that I had previously watercolored in a warm coral shade.

The rest was just a matter of arranging photo and embellishments onto the page. I added layers of patterned paper behind the picture, and chipboard stickers from the Reflection Scrapbook Collection. The wood veneer origami birds are also part of the same collection.

For the butterflies, I stamped them with the Painted Butterflies set and fussy-cut them. I chose colors that coordinated with the rest of the shades on the page. Black splatters finished the layout.

The second project features the new Cross Stitch Canvas Die. So many possibilities with this one. I decided to stick to the traditional cross-stitch design and create rows of different colors.

The top and bottom sections of the card have a pattern of smaller and bigger stitches, while the center keeps the same simple design. Since the background is the focus of this card, I simply added the Thinking of You sentiment, which is also an Altenew craft die that you can find in the store. I left a few rows empty to break the continuity of the pattern.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. Don’t forget to leave a comment on each blog for a chance to win gift certificates to the store. Your next stop is Heidi Jakobs‘ blog.

Have a lovely day!
