Altenew – Sketchy Floral Layout

Mixed media layout by @enzamg for @Altenew using the #SketchyFloral stamp set. #altenew #scrapbooking #mixedmediaHello, Altenew fans. Enza here to share a new layout created with several Altenew products.

When I started thinking about the design and what I wanted to focus on for this page, I decided once again to get out of my comfort zone and challenge myself. I have been experimenting with mixed media lately, but that mostly consisted in spraying my backgrounds with Altenew Shimmer Ink Sprays – I like their soft color and artistic look. This time, I went a step further and used a mix of different mediums to color the gorgeous flowers in the Sketchy Floral Stamp Set.

I don’t have much of a tutorial, or a reference to the colors I used, as I just mixed and matched until I got the result I was going for. What I can say is that the combination of Altenew Watercolors, Artist Markers, and colored pencils made these images pop.

I started by stamping the big Sketchy Floral image onto smooth white cardstock with Permanent Black Ink. I then used orange, red and yellow hues from the Watercolor 36 Pan Set to give it the basic color. I went back and forth, trying to create different shades. I did the same with the greens for the leaves. Once everything was completely dry, I added even more shading with the Artist Markers, which really helped in achieving a smoother look. Next, I just slightly darkened some areas with colored pencils until I was happy with the results.

I love the softness they add to the big cluster.

Before arranging the flowers onto the page, I adhered strips of patterned paper from the Reflection Scrapbook Collection onto the background to bring in a contrasting color.

Instead of adding a big title, I opted to use sentiments from the More Than Words Stamp Set; I simply heat-embossed them directly on the patterned paper with Pure White Embossing Powder.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I’m not a colorist by all means, but I truly enjoyed working on this page, and hope I have inspired you to mix and match different coloring mediums on your next project.

Altenew – Layout with Botanical Garden Stamp Set

Layout with Botanical Garden Stamp Set by @enzamg for @Altenew. #stamping #coloring #scrapbooking #layoutHello, Altenew fans!

Enza here, and today I’m sharing a new layout featuring the Botanical Garden Stamp Set.

What I love about this set is the variety of the images and their delicate look; plus each piece can be die cut with the coordinating dies, which is always so convenient, especially given the intricacy of the shapes.

How to:

I started by stamping most of the flowers on smooth white cardstock using Altenew’s Permanent Black Crisp Ink since I knew that I wanted to use Artist Markers as well as watercolors on them. I went with shades of blue, purple and red/coral. With the exception of the purple flowers, for which I used watercolors, the other images were colored with Artist Markers Set A:

  • red flowers: Coral Berry, Crimson, Ruby Red
  • blue flowers: Sea Glass, Dusk, Ocean Waves
  • leaves and stems: Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades, Evergreen

To accentuate the delicate look of the flowers, I opted for a light pink cardstock as my background. I stamped a few stems directly onto the paper and arranged the die-cuts on top of them, sort of in a circular shape, making sure to alternate the colors.

After foam mounting my picture, I adhered it in the center. I decided not to add any patterned paper behind it, as I didn’t want to add more color or distract from the gorgeous flowers.

For the title, I blended Peach Perfect and Heart Beat Crisp Dye Inks onto white cardstock to obtain an ombre look. Then, I die cut the word “Love” from the Script Words Die Set and “You” from the Just for You Die Set.

I also stamped some sentiments from the Extra Special Stamp Set and arranged them around the photo. I chose white cardstock to make them pop more.

To finish the layout, I adhered some butterflies from the same Botanical Garden Stamp Set and enamel dots in coordinating colors.

The Cut Shoppe – You and Me

Hello everyone. I’m back today to share a new layout featuring the Flower Delivery cut file from The Cut Shoppe.

The picture I chose for this layout is very close to my heart. My mom and I don’t have many photos where it is just the two of us. I love her smile and positive attitude. Despite her aches and pains, she is always in a good mood, funny and happy. I couldn’t wait to scrap this picture!

I used the gorgeous Altenew Reflection Scrapbook Kit. The watercolor papers were perfect for what I had in mind. The flowers in this cut file set are versatile and unique. One in particular drew my attention. My initial idea was to enlarge the image as much as I could to fit on a 12×12 piece of cardstock. As it often happens though, I changed my mind and decided to cut three images of the same flower in different sizes. I also knew I wanted to do some stitching, so before  sending the flowers to cut I offset the image and selected the perforated option for the inside lines.

Once all the flowers were stitched and placed where I wanted them on the cardstock, I glued down the negative portions of the petals and raised the flowers by using foam dots. I love the added dimension that gives to the layout.

I finished the page with wooden butterflies and buttons, as well as other embellishments from the collection and paint splatters.

I love how this layout turned out. You can find this and many more amazing cut files in The Cut Shoppe Etsy store.

Thank you for stopping by.

Have a great day!
