Crate Paper – Willow Lane: Layout

Hello friends! I am so excited to share my very first layout with the gorgeous Willow Lane collection by Maggie Holmes. This collection is truly beautiful; so many patterned papers to choose from, and the embellishments are so unique and fun!

My idea was to have dimensional elements all over the layout, so I started by fussy-cutting lots of butterflies from the Flutter patterned paper, and layered small ones on top of bigger ones, alternating colors. I machine-stitched the middle section to bring in more texture.

I used one of the pom pom frames for the photo, which I adhered down with foam adhesive, and fussy-cut flowers and leaves from the Blossom patterned paper to add to the mix.

Once everything was in place, I added three sentiment banners, one of which served as my title also, and started working on my journaling card. I used a tag from the cut-apart sheet, backed it with patterned paper and more flowers, and adhered it down with craft foam. To create continuity and bring the layout together, I added two of the layered butterflies on opposite corners of the tag; the sentiment comes from the same cut-apart sheet.

I finished the layout off with white paint splatters.

I’m so excite to be part of this hop. The new products are absolutely lovely. New embossing powders, clear embossing ink,  and a gorgeous scrapbook collection are being released today!

The Our Family Scrapbook Collection is right on trend with fresh colors, watercolored elements, geometric designs, and florals (of course!). The papers and embellishments have been designed to help you document your precious family memories, but are versatile enough to use on any layout, journal, or card project.

The kit contains:

36 Sheets of 12″x12″ patterned paper (2 of each design)

One 3″x4″ photopolymer stamp set

12 3″x4″ watercolor journaling cards

One 8.5″x11″ sheet of 20 cardstock stickers

One 8.5″x11″ sheet of 15 cardstock die cuts

One 8.5″x11″ sheet of 16 chipboard stickers

Two 6″x12″ sheets of chipboard alphabet stickers

One 5″x6″ sheet of 17 adhesive wood veneers

One 4″x6″ sheet of adhesive enamel dots

One metal die (approx. 3.5″x4.5″)

One roll of washi tape (15mm x 10m)

My layout for today features one of the beautiful watercolor florals included in this amazing kit.

I love fussy-cutting images to give them a new look, and that’s exactly what I did here. I wanted the floral piece to be the focus, so I created two main clusters to fill the the page from top to bottom. I adhered them down with foam dots for extra dimension. The lovely background I used is also part of the new scrapbook kit.

The picture fits right in beetween the clusters. I embellished it with some tags and a die cut from the kit, as well as the gorgeous pink wood grain washi tape that is such a nice addition to this collection.

I finished the layout with chipboard alphabet stickers that I used for my title, some wood veneers, and enamel dots.

I can’t say enough how much I love this collection. It is definitely a must-have. Your next stop is Laurie Schmidlin‘s blog. Don’t forget to comment along for a chance to win.

Thank you for stopping by.

Pink Paislee – Spellcast: Magic Layout

Hello, Pink Paislee friends! I’m excited to share with you a layout featuring the amazing Spellcast collection today. This is truly the perfect collection to document your spooky pictures and Halloween memories. I love the vintage look of it, the colors, the ephemera pieces, and all the fun, “scary” sentiments. Here is the layout I created:

The first thing that came to mind when I saw the patterned papers was to fussy cut the flowers. I thought about making a backdrop of orange and black roses, and then placing my photo and embellishments on top of it, but I also wanted to include a spiderweb, which would have not been visible enough had I done that. My solution was to just limit the floral pieces to two opposite corners of the page and leave space for other elements in the middle section. I used foam dots to adhere the roses down, which created that dimension I always try to achieve on my layouts.

The spiderweb is a cut file from my stash, that I just backed with white glittery tulle for more texture and also to duplicate the feel of the real thing.

I printed the photo in black and white to go with the Halloween theme and used several die cuts and chipboard stickers to embellish it.

The Spellcast collection is definitely a must-have, the perfect mix of creepy and fun!
