Altenew – Sketch Challenge #13

Hello, Altenew fans!

I am excited to be hosting Altenew’s Sketch Challenge #13, the first of the new year!

The sketch I made is based on one of my favorite layouts, which features the Frosted Garden Stamp Set; you can find it here.

Rainbow layout by @enzamg for @Altenew using the Frosted Garden Stamp Set. #scrapbooking #altenew #rainbow #layoutI followed the sketch pretty closely. Other than the variation in color, the design is pretty much the same as my previous layout.

The Build-A-Flower: Cattleya Stamp Set was perfect to create my background and wreath elements. The colors are brighter and more intense here, and the rainbow effect is given by the combination of different shades found in the beautiful layers. Here are the Altenew Crisp Dye Inks I used:

  • coral: Peach Perfect, Coral Bliss, Heart Beat
  • pink: Pink Diamond, Pinkalicious, Cosmic Berry
  • purple: Wisteria, Hydrangea, Andromeda
  • teal: Dew Drops, Aqualicious, Teal Cave
  • green: Firefly, Grass Field, Shadow Creek, Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades.

As in the original layout, I created a circular opening in the middle by tracing a round shape onto my paper as a guide for the stamping. With the help of a stamping block, I stamped the outline of the cattleya all around the circle, making sure to vary the direction of the images for a more natural look. Once that was ready, I adhered the flowers down with foam dots.

I layered patterned paper from the Pastel Dreams Paper Pack behind the photo and used the green cattleyas to create an extra layer and bring in more color. The beautiful butterflies from the Butterfly Acetate Die Cuts pack give a romantic touch to the page, while the “sweet” wood veneer sentiment worked perfectly as my title – I colored it with Pinkalicious Crisp Dye Ink.

Enamel dots in coordinating colors finished the page.

Hope you have fun playing along! Visit the Altenew blog for details on how to participate 🙂

Crate Paper – Creative Layouts: Circle Backdrop

Hello, CP friends! Enza here, and today I’m bringing you a new layout created with the gorgeous Willow Lane collection. I love creating layouts that incorporate different patterned paper and colors, so I try to look for ways that allow me to do that while still keeping the page clean and balanced. I find that geometric shapes are perfect for this, as they can be repeated multiple times without being too overwhelming for the design. I went with circles, but stars, triangles, hearts, and many other shapes would have worked as well.

I used a paper punch from my stash to obtain 1.5 inch circles from a variety of patterned papers. In order to perfectly arrange them on the background, I traced and cut out an 8 inch circle from plain cardstock, and used its outline as a template. I started with the gorgeous green polka dotted Friendship paper, and completed a full circle before adding the other cut outs. Trying to alternate soft and stronger colors is the key to achieve a harmonious look. Once the background was complete, I decided to add hand-stitched details all around the outline of the big circle. This simple step brings such a nice, unique feel to the page, and separates the main image from the paper behind it.

For the photo, I die cut it to fit the middle, and added the Decorative Trim from the Flourish collection around the outer edge before adhering it down.

The Foam Glitter Thickers worked perfectly as my title. As you can see, I kept the circular idea going here. Butterflies from the Ephemera Pack, as well as fussy cut ones, surround the photo; I also added Puffy Sticker hearts and the cute little bird from the Chipboard set.

I finished the layout with a few sentiments, and foliage from the Gold Puffy Thickers that come in the Flourish collection.

Altenew September 2018 Stamp/Die Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello crafty friends, and welcome to the Altenew September 2018 Stamp/Die Release Blog Hop + Giveaway.

You should have arrived from the super talented Nina-Marie‘s blog. Here is the full list for your convenience:

Enza Gudor –You are here–

This is such a beautiful, cheerful release, full of goodies that are perfect for the upcoming Holiday season. I created a Christmas layout with the following stamp sets and coordinating dies: Holiday Bow, and Christmas Stockings.

All the different elements in these sets can be easily combined to form the rich and full garland you see on the page. The big bow inspired the whole layout.

As you may know, all Altenew 6×8 and 4×6 stamp sets come with tri-fold insert cards showcasing lots of added inspiration, project ideas, printed layering guides, and other useful information. I especially love the color combinations they provide, as it saves a lot of time when it comes to choosing which shades to use. I went with the colors in the Holiday Bow Stamp Set insert for my images today.

I arranged the die cut bows, sprigs, and poinsettias in the center of the page to form the garland. Everything was adhered down with foam dots for dimension. I then went on stamping the stockings with the Christmas Stockings Stamp Set. This set is super fun; you have the option to use a solid color for your stockings, or the variety of designs and patterns that are included in the set.

Once the garland was finished, I simply added the photos above it and the title in the bottom right corner.

The “Merry” die cut came from the Holiday Script Words Die. I cut it a few times, and adhered the layers together for a sturdy title. To color it, I used a blend of Altenew Crisp Dye Inks in Frayed Leaf and Forest Glades.
