The cutting dies I used for my cards come from the Special Moments collection: Laced Flowers, Floral Lace Border, and Special Day Frame. I love how dainty and intricate these designs are!

For the first card, I concentrated my elements in the center.

I wanted to create lots of dimension, so I decided to layer several die cuts and use foam adhesive to adhere one on top of the other. I started with the bigger circle die that comes in the Special Day Frame set, followed by one of the swirl and circle shapes, and finished with two gorgeous layers of Laced Flowers. I then die cut many single flower shapes from the Floral Lace Border set and arranged them all around the edge of the circle for extra interest, and also for a more finished look.

The second card features layers of gorgeous Laced Flowers.

I started by die cutting the three different sizes directly from my card panel. I love that the darker patterned paper comes through bringing in a contrasting element. Keeping the same color scheme of the first card, I die cut the flowers and nested them before adhering them down. I diminished the layers going from the bottom to the top of the card, so you can see that the bottom flowers has three layers, the second has two, and so on. A simple sentiment and Crystal Nuvo Drops finished the card.

Spellbinders – Cut & Emboss Folders Inspiration | Everyday Cards

Hello, crafty friends! I’m back today to share the first of three blog posts featuring the amazing Cut and Emboss Folders collection by Spellbinders.

The cards I have created for today’s post showcase four different Cut and Emboss Folders. I can’t tell you how much I loved using these clever products. The quality is amazing, and the details in the designs make them unique and truly a must-have in your stash.

For the first card, I used the Floret Cluster Cut and Emboss Folder.

I started working on my project by embossing two 4”x5.25” panels, one from white card stock and the other from patterned paper. I tried to stick to more neutral patterns while concentrating on color, as I wanted the embossed image to be the focus of the card. To create dimension, I fussy-cut a portion of the embossed pink ombre patterned paper and adhered it on top of the white card stock, making sure to lift the petals with foam dots.

For the sentiment, I added a layer of the same pink ombre paper behind it to create sort of a shadow, as well as some gold thread that just brought an extra element of interest to the card. I then matted the panel with black card stock before adhering it to my A2 card base. Black Nuvo drops completed the card.

The second card showcases the Flower Garden Cut and Emboss Folder.

As in the first card, you can notice the subtle look of the patterned paper and how well the embossed image comes through.

I decided to go with a vertical design this time. After passing the panel through my die-cutting machine, I trimmed it to measure 3.5”x5.25”, backed it with some darker pink card stock, and finished it with a thin strip of black card stock, as well as white and black polka dot patterned paper. To cover the seam, I wrapped black and white twine around the panel before adhering it down onto my A2 card base. A sentiment die cut and enamel dots in coordinating colors finished the card.

For my next card, I went with a shaker design. I love the intricacy of the Baroque Filigree Cut and Emboss Folder! It is just so beautiful and elegant!

I started by embossing my card panel, for which I used smooth white card stock. I covered the back portion of it with a piece of acetate cut to size, and foam adhesive, making sure to leave enough room around the negative spaces for the sequins to move freely and “shake”.

Next, I created the background paper by blending several colors of Distress Inks, and adhered it to the front panel after placing the sequins on it. The sentiment was heat-embossed on a strip of black card stock and placed across the bottom portion of the card, bringing in just the right amount of contrast. I finished the card with tiny flowers created with enamel dots.

My last card for today features the Rose Flourish Cut and Emboss Folder.

The technique here is very similar to the one I used for my first card. Lots of dimension achieved by embossing several patterned papers and adhering just portions of them on top of each other. I first fussy-cut the embossed image out of light patterned paper and glued it on top of the colored panel; then, I only cut the roses, and foam mounted them before arranging them on to the second layer of the card.

I matted the panel with black card stock, and completed it with a sentiment and black enamel dots.

Spellbinders – Two Simple Cards

Hello crafty friends!

I am very excited to share my projects with you today. I have been a fan of Spellbinders for the longest time – the quality of their products is amazing and the designs are unique and inspiring. When the lovely Yana Smakula contacted me and asked if I wanted to play with some goodies, I couldn’t believe it! I was flattered by her offer, and totally jumped at the opportunity!

Card making is fairly new to me, but I have been enjoying this form of paper crafting more and more lately, so I decided that that’s how I was going to use the two sets of dies I received. The Die D-Lites Dainty Florals Etched Dies were right up my alley. My projects feature floral images 99% of the time, so I felt completely comfortable. I knew what I wanted to do and the card turned out exactly how I had imagined it. The Die D-Lites Hip Llama Etched Dies, although a little more challenging for me, were a lot of fun to use. In this case, I had an idea in mind, but the card turned out completely different.

Here is the first card:

I opted to use only one of the dies in the Dainty Florals set. I cut it up four times and backed it as I would normally do a cut file. The warm and delicate colors in the new Confetti Wishes collection by Pink Paislee gave the card that soft look I was going for and coordinated perfectly with the style of the dies.

I started by heat-embossing a sentiment from The Stamp Market Simply Penned stamp set on a 4”x5.25” smooth white cardstock. I stamped it in the middle of the panel, as I wanted the floral elements to frame it somehow. I then layered three of the flowers in the top right corner of the panel, and just one in the opposite corner. Everything was foam mounted to achieve dimension. To finish the card, I added black enamel dots in the center of the flowers, and stamped some dots in a light pink color around the die cuts. The front panel was then adhered to an A2 card base created with Confetti Wishes patterned paper.

My second card features the Die D-Lites Hip Llama Etched Dies.

As I said at the beginning of this post, my original idea was very different from the way this card turned out. Let’s say that what was supposed to be a split background created with Distress Inks ended up becoming my actual llama. LOL! For the front panel of the card, I decided to go with a diagonal design. I cut some patterned paper from the Crate Paper Good Vibes collection and adhered it to the top and bottom of my white card panel. The cacti design is really cute and is perfect for the theme of the card. To create some separation between the patterned paper and the white panel, I layered pink cardstock underneath it. I find that it also makes the colors pop a little more.

For the sentiment, I used the same Simply Penned stamp set (I love the font!). I heat-embossed it onto a vellum piece that was cut in a diagonal to fill the space in between the patterned papers.

Now onto the llama! You can see the split color in the picture below. I thought it was fun, so I didn’t bother trying to blend the colors more or cutting the image again. Instead I decided to work with it and just inked the edges with Scattered Straw Distress Ink to give it some shading. I also cut an additional llama out of black cardstock as a layering piece – I like the offset look, and once again it makes the die cut pop. All the other little details on it, such as sunglasses, bow tie, blanket and llama mouth were cut out of patterned papers from the Good Vibes collection. I used a white gel pen to highlight the embossed portions on the blanket, and finished the card with black enamel dots and some twine. After adhering my panel onto pink wood grain cardstock, I then placed it onto an A2 card base.

I hope you enjoyed reading about my process and have found some inspiration on how to use these dies. I had a lot of fun playing with them and definitely recommend them.

Thank you for stopping by! Have a fabulous day!
