Crate Paper – All Heart Layout

Hello CP friends! Today I’m sharing a new layout with the super fun All Heart collection by Crate Paper. If you love pink and girly patterns then this collection is right up your alley. The cute embellishments, sassy sentiments and realistic illustrations are perfect not only to document the teenagers in your life but your travels as well.

The idea for this layout came from the multicolor striped heart sticker in the collection. I love how the sections in the cut file wave from the center towards the right, making it playful and whimsical. I decided to cut the hearts in three concentric sizes and stack them on top of each other to create a very dimensional piece – using foam adhesive definitely helped with that! I also liked the idea of backing each corresponding section with the same patterned paper; I think it enhances the look of the nested hearts.

Once the main piece was ready, I adhered it off-center, as I wanted the pretty flowers on the left side of the background paper to show.

For the photo I used a combination of several embellishments and die cut pieces; I love layering and building dimension, so I started with a few fussy cut cards from the “Collage” patterned paper and went on adding chipboard stickers, the super cute Frames, and clear flower sticker, which I adhered to white cardstock and fussy cut before arranging them around the photo. The film strip came from the 6×8 Paper Pad and added a contrasting element, while the beautiful paper tassels brought in a fun interesting touch.

As I mentioned earlier, the background patterned paper comes with a pretty floral design. To draw more attention to it and balance out the big heart, I added more embellishments to it, such as sentiments, hearts and butterflies.

Black paint splatters and heart stickers finished the layout.

Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope this has inspired you to create your next layout with the gorgeous All Heart collection.

Crate Paper – Sunny Days Cards with Paint and Stencils

Hello, crafty friends! I’m back today to share a set of cards featuring the gorgeous Stencils and Acrylic Paints in the Sunny Days collection. I’m not much of a mixed media artist, but when it comes to experimenting with new tools and techniques I’m all for it. I love the subtle accents these stencils add to backgrounds; they pair perfectly with the beautiful colors of the paints.

I started by preparing my card bases. After trimming the white cardstock to 4.25”x5.5”, I opted to use the stencils only on a couple of them, while for the other two I created solid backgrounds.

The trick when using stencils is to apply as little paint as possible with a stencil brush, so to avoid any possible bleeding. It’s also a good idea to hold the stencil firmly in place to minimize shifting and achieve crisp edges. What I like about acrylic paint is that it dries really fast, allowing you to use the same design on different parts of your card within minutes.

To obtain the solid background, I simply applied the paint with an old ID card from top to bottom and left to right. Here again you want to control the amount of paint you use 🙂

Once the card bases were dry and ready, I matted them with patterned papers from the collection and embellished them with fussy cut elements, die cuts, chipboard stickers and transparencies. I used foam dots to adhere them down for dimension.

I love how these cards turned out. The delicate stencil designs create more interest and make your cards extra special, while the pretty paints bring in just the right amount of color.

Thank you for stopping by! Have a great day!

Crate Paper – Easter Party Favors

Hello, CP friends. Easter is upon us, and today I’m sharing a pair of simple and easy gift boxes that would be perfect as party favors as well as little décor pieces for your festive table. The Sunny Days collection has lovely colors and patterns that fit the theme really well.

The boxes are very easy to make. I used a cut file for mine, but I’m also sharing a tutorial in case you don’t own an electronic die cutting machine.

I started by choosing the patterned paper, which I trimmed to obtain two square pieces, measuring 5.5” and 6.5” respectively.

I then scored the 5.5” one at 7/8” on all four sides, and the other at 1 3/8”.

After pressing down the folds, I made a cut on each side (as in the photo) and used double-sided tape to secure both bottom and top of the box.

Once ready, I decorated the lids. For the first box, I fussy cut three butterflies from the Blissful paper and flowers from one of the papers in the 12×12 Paper Pad – I love the gold foiled accents of the outlines! I first arranged the flowers, adhering them down with foam dots for dimension, then continued on with the butterflies, the mint paper flower, and a tag. For the tag, I simply cut it from patterned paper, punched a whole on one side, and added the pink bow. The “love” black puffy sticker comes from the Summertime Glossy Puffy Stickers. I finished it with three flower rhinestones.

For the second box, I used the foliage from the same Summertime Glossy Puffy Sticker as my bottom layer. Then I simply added three paper flowers in different colors to form a cluster; to fill the empty spots I also die cut some additional foliage and tuck it under them. For the sentiment, I adhered one from the Clear Sticker Book onto white cardstock and fussy cut around it to make it opaque and thicker. I placed it in the center of the flower cluster. Glossy puffy hearts finished the box.

I hope you’ll give these gift boxes a try. They came together in no time, and are so fun to make.

Thank you for stopping by.
