Hello friends! I’m excited to share my new layout with you today. I used the gorgeous Whimsical collection to document a sweet moment between me and my daughter. I can’t get enough of these lovely papers; and it’s no secret I adore the bright and colorful flowers that complement them so well.
I started my design with the Flower 12 Petals cut file designed by Paige. After cutting it once from white cardstock, I decided to cut only the outline from Paper 23 to obtain a solid shape to back it with. I also cut it a third time from a lighter blue patterned paper (Paper 04), as I wanted to add a contrasting color and bring in an extra element of interest to the page. I adhered only the center portion of the cut file to the patterned paper so I could lift the petals a bit and curve them inwards. I used the cut outs from Paper 04 to fill the tips of the petals – again, I partially glued them down and lifted the top part.
Once the cut file was ready, I built several layers behind my photo and used foam tape to glue it down, but not before creating a bed of flowers to set it in. The mix of die cuts, ephemera pieces, and fussy cut elements is just lovely and brightens the background drawing attention to the photo.
For the title, I combined the “love” sentiment from the Ephemera Pack with a fussy cut banner from Paper 08 and Mini Foam Alphabet Thickers.
I always say that flowers call for butterflies so here I added chipboard ones as well as die cuts from the Ephemera Pack.
A few enamel dots and white paint splatters finished the layout.
Thank you so much for stopping by today. I love how this page turned ou, and hope you’ll feel inspired to create your next layout with the gorgeous Whimsical collection!
