Hello everyone! I am back today to share a project created with the new Altenew Build-A-Flower: Hibiscus set. This set, which includes 1 stamp set (24 images) and 1 coordinating die set (3 dies), is absolutely stunning. The realistic look you can achieve with the layered images is amazing.
Here is a brief description provided by Altenew:
Hibiscus are native to warm climates and are associated with tropical weather and relaxing summer days. Hibiscus flowers have symbolized many things throughout history, but are now most commonly known to represent “delicate beauty.” This set comprises of a 6 layer hibiscus flower in full bloom, a 6 layer hibiscus bud with stem, and a 4 layer leaf image. Three sentiments are also included. These floral images work well on cards, layouts, home decor, gift wrapping, and more. We can’t wait to see where these beautiful tropical flowers take your imagination!
I love the tropical vibe and detailed images of this set!
I knew I wanted to use lots of flowers and leaves to form a huge, colorful cluster, so I started stamping away.
Here are the Altenew Crisp Inks I used:
- coral flowers: Pink Pearl, Coral Bliss, Heart Beat, Vineyard Berry, Cosmic Berry
- yellow flowers: Buttercream, Fresh Lemon, Maple Yellow, Warm Sunshine, Peach perfect
- pink flowers: Frosty Pink, Pinkalicious, Purple Wine, Razzleberry, Deep Iris
- leaves: Minty Mint, Sweet Leaf, Just Green, Hunter Green.
I arranged flowers and leaves towards the mid-left portion of the page, adhering everything down with foam dots to create dimension and a more natural look.
I then stamped some sentiments from several stamp sets. “You make me smile” from the Happy Bloom set, “Aloha” and “Mahalo” from the Totally Tropical set, and “You color my world” from the Halftone Circles set. I used black cardstock, and heat-embossed the sentiments with Altenew Pure White Crisp Embossing Powder.
I tucked the photo under a few leaves and flowers on the right-hand side, and created a little frame around it with the pink wood grain washi tape that comes in the Our Family Scrapbook Collection.
I also decided to scatter some leaves on the page, and added some stitching to them before adhering them down.
Enamel dots are one of my favorite embellishments to finish a project with, so I placed a few around the design, as well as wood veneer buttons from the Reflection Collection.
Now the fun part! To celebrate this release, Altenew is giving away a $30 gift certificate to six lucky winners! Please leave a comment on the Altenew Card Blog and/or Altenew Scrapbook Blog for a chance to win. Three winners will be announced on the Card Blog, and other three winners will be announced on the Scrapbook Blog on 4/8/2018.

The detail on the layout is amazing. I love the stitching on the leaves. And the colours and the photography of the picture go so well together. The flowers are perfect for a tropical beach look. It really makes me long for warmer weather, yesterday and today are below -20 where I live. Altenew is so lucky to have you on their design team. And I can’t believe you are responding to all the comments! Super nice of you. Thank you for sharing your tips and knowledge on your design.

Wow. I’m amazed at how many flowers you stamped. I know how long it takes me to do a few for a card, but this is just a riot of gorgeous, tropical happiness. I particularly like the greens you chose against the bright pinks, oranges, and yellows. It definitely has the feel of summer to it. Thank you so much for sharing!
