Pink Paislee – Spotlight Layout

Hello, PP fans! I’m so excited and honored to be back on the Pink Paislee Design Team for a new year!

The first project of this new term is about spotlighting each designer, so I thought I would share a layout that includes some of my favorites: cut files, flowers and hearts, thread, and lots of layers.

Cut files are usually my starting point, my main inspiration. I often try to modify them a bit to make them ‘my own’, and that’s exactly what I did here. I took the Scalloped Heart Background cut file by Paige Evans and duplicated it two times, modifying its size to create nested hearts. Instead of backing the scalloped portion of it, I decided to back the center with different patterned papers from the Turn the Page collection. I also thought it would be fun to bring in some more color in the scalloped area, so I wrapped colorful thread around where the scallops connect to the heart. It’s just a little extra step that adds lots of interest to the page.

To create dimension, I adhered the hearts down with foam adhesive. This also gave me more space to tuck in my embellishments. I fussy cut lots of flowers from Paper 02, but instead of placing them all around the bigger heart, I just embellished the right portion of it, while the other flowers are peeking out from the left side of the middle heart. Love, love all those layers!

The photo also has lots of layers behind it. I used ephemera pieces, as well as labels and washi tape. One of my favorite items in this collection are the banner clips. I could use them on everything! I placed one on the right side of the photo, with a little heart from the #StickerBook and a journaling tag. The sentiment, which also serves as my title, comes from the Phrases 2×2 Paper Pad.

To finish the layout and add a unique touch, I created a pleated border to place at the bottom of the page. I used the light green ribbon that comes in the collection and some hot glue to stick it down.

I hope you enjoyed reading about my process and have found some inspiration for your next project. Thank you for stopping by!
